SQL Server 2025 is on your radar. Your backups should be ready for it before the upgrade, not after.
SQL Safe Backup 9.7 is now available, with full support for SQL Server 2025 and Windows Server 2025.
SQL Safe Backup is a complete backup and recovery solution for SQL Server. It brings databases back online in minutes rather than hours, and compared with native backups it cuts backup time by up to 50% and backup storage by up to 95%. It works on-premises, in the cloud, or both, including cloud-native storage.
What’s New in SQL Safe Backup 9.7
Full support for SQL Server 2025 and Windows Server 2025
Upgrade on your schedule, not your backup tool’s. The About screen now also shows the operating system, which makes life easier when you’re working with Support.
Cloud backup and restore that works the way you expect
- Azure backups now honor the storage location you specify.
- Backups stored in Azure can now be restored to an on-premises SQL Server.
- Restores from S3-compatible storage, including Wasabi, are more reliable.
Fewer 2 a.m. surprises
- A scheduled log backup with no full backup base? SQL Safe now creates the required full backup automatically.
- Backup-status reporting for Always On availability group replicas is more accurate.
- Temporary verification files are cleaned up when a job finishes.
- Log shipping policy edits now update the related SQL Server Agent jobs.
A snappier Management Console
Startup after an upgrade is faster, especially in large environments, and the console is quicker for servers in untrusted domains. Moving a server between groups now keeps its stored credentials, and Servers dialog search works even when the list is collapsed.
Security housekeeping
We updated MailKit and MimeKit to address the MimeKit vulnerability, CVE-2026-30227.
Plus a few smaller improvements: better SQLSafeCmd logging, restore policies that can be created through SQLSafeCmd using registered instances, and cleaner multi-recipient alert emails (just separate addresses with semicolons).
