What’s Inside DB PowerStudio 19.0: Smarter Profiling and UI Enhancements

The DB PowerStudio 19.0 release sharpens the toolset across DBArtisan, Rapid SQL, DB Optimizer, and DB Change Manager, introducing powerful enhancements for Oracle and PostgreSQL users, along with UI upgrades, usability fixes, and quality-of-life improvements.

Whether you’re managing complex schema extractions, tuning slow queries, or maintaining role-based access, DB PowerStudio 19.0 helps you get there faster with fewer clicks, clearer results, and greater control.

Let’s dive into what’s new.

DBArtisan & Rapid SQL: Greater Visibility, Smoother Schema Workflows

Enhanced Oracle Tablespace Compression
Oracle users now benefit from automatic compression during schema export/import operations. The default setting for tablespace extraction is now COMPRESS BASIC, improving performance and reducing storage consumption across the board.

This change makes large-scale data movement easier, particularly in high-volume environments where time and space both matter.

PostgreSQL Function Reporting Now Supported
Function-level visibility has arrived for PostgreSQL. You can now generate reports that include stored functions, making it easier to document and audit your codebase. This is especially valuable in environments with heavy use of custom logic and layered transformations.

Complete DDL Extraction, Including Clustered PKs
The DDL Extract tab now provides a full and accurate schema snapshot, including clustered primary key constraints. That means no more gaps when reverse-engineering structures or generating archive jobs. Your schema exports now reflect everything you’ve defined.

Modernized ‘New Data Source’ Wizard (Windows 11 Support)
A more intuitive and polished UI experience awaits Windows 11 users. The updated ‘New Data Source’ wizard includes corrected dropdown behavior, refreshed styling, and consistent visual cues that match the OS experience. Clean and straightforward, just like it should be.

DB Optimizer: Less Noise, More Precision

Seamless PostgreSQL Query Profiling
DB Optimizer 19.0 speeds up your workflow by letting you launch the Explain Plan directly from the SQL tab in the profiling editor. That means less toggling between tabs and faster round-trips from query to performance insights, perfect for diagnosing bottlenecks on the fly.

Smarter Role Management for Oracle
Modifying user roles just became smoother. The Users and Roles tab now supports in-place edits, reducing friction and improving accuracy during permission updates. It’s a small improvement that will save you time with every security adjustment.

Better Oracle Data Comparison Reports
When comparing live vs. archived Oracle data sources, empty or null properties are now clearly shown, eliminating the confusion of ambiguous “Not Found” entries. This makes schema comparisons more accurate and far easier to interpret.

DB Change Manager: Clean Code, Compliant Standards

MAXDOP Values Now Auto-Formatted for SQL Server Indexes
Index creation just got more readable. Large MAXDOP values (e.g., 1000 or 5000) are now automatically formatted with commas to reduce syntax errors and improve scanability. This formatting tweak helps developers follow SQL Server conventions while keeping scripts easier to maintain.

Fixes that Make a Real Difference

Version 19.0 resolves these usability issues:

  • Schema extraction now correctly applies COMPRESS BASIC for Oracle tablespaces.
  • ALTER TABLE issues when connecting to Oracle 19c via Rapid SQL are fixed.
  • Users and Roles tab crash when modifying default roles is resolved.
  • PostgreSQL Explain Plan now reliably opens from the SQL profiling tab.
  • Function reporting is restored for PostgreSQL in DBArtisan and Rapid SQL.
  • Clustered primary key constraints now appear in DDL archive jobs.
  • The MAXDOP value field now accepts comma-separated inputs for clarity.
  • UI inconsistencies in the ‘New Data Source’ wizard have been addressed.
  • Oracle Live vs. Archive reports now properly distinguish null properties.

Why Upgrade to DB PowerStudio 19.0?

This isn’t just a round of minor polish. DB PowerStudio 19.0 addresses real-world pain points across all four tools:

  • Faster schema exports and imports
  • Better documentation and auditing in PostgreSQL
  • Improved UI consistency on modern systems
  • Streamlined performance tuning workflows
  • Clearer comparison reporting and fewer false flags

From database developers to DBAs and performance engineers, every role benefits from the cleaner, faster, more accurate experience in 19.0.
