We are pleased to announce the general availability of SQL Diagnostic Manager 14.2. Existing users may upgrade to this version through the Idera Customer Portal. New users may download the trial version from the SQL Diagnostic Manager Website.
SQL Diagnostic Manager (SQL DM) is the leading performance monitoring, alerting and diagnostics solution for SQL Server and Azure professionals. It proactively notifies of health, performance, and availability problems through a Windows desktop or Web console. It minimizes costly server downtime with agent-less, real-time monitoring and customizable alerting for quick diagnosis and remediation
SQL Diagnostic Manager 14.2 adds a much broader set of database-level views that make it easier to drill into the details behind database health, capacity, configuration, files, tables, indexes, dependencies, and backup and restore activity. The new Database Summary, Files, and other Data Explorer views give DBAs more information in one place, with database selection, refresh controls, filtering, active-row selection, and multi-view charts to help move from an overall view to the details that matter.
The release expands the database details available throughout SQL DM. DBAs can now explore data files, file groups, transaction logs, disks, configuration, tables and indexes, index statistics, and object dependencies. Backup and restore history is also available in a dedicated view. Together, these additions make the database views more useful for investigating capacity, configuration, storage, and database maintenance questions without having to jump between multiple tools.
SQL Diagnostic Manager 14.2 also adds an option to deploy the SQLdmRepository to Amazon RDS Custom using a custom RPEV server. This gives customers another deployment option for environments where the repository needs to be hosted in an Amazon RDS Custom configuration.
Several SQL DM alert thresholds have also been updated as part of the release. These changes refine the default alerting experience and help ensure that the product’s out-of-the-box thresholds better reflect current monitoring needs.
SQL Diagnostic Manager 14.2 also includes the latest maintenance fixes and product enhancements delivered as part of this release. The focus of 14.2 is primarily on improving the depth and usability of database visibility while adding a new repository deployment option and refining alert thresholds.
SQL Diagnostic Manager 14.2 is a relatively small release ahead of the much larger 14.3 release coming in October.
