Idera Announces SQL Diagnostic Manager 8.0 With Management Pack For Microsoft System Center, AlwaysOn Availability Monitoring, and Support for SQL Server 2014

Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager provides 24x7 performance monitoring, alerting and diagnostics. In the new release, SQL Diagnostic Manager delivers greater control, manageability and scalability. New enhancements include SQL Diagnostic Manager Management Pack for Microsoft System Center (SCOM), AlwaysOn Availability Group monitoring, configuration audit changes, and support for SQL Server 2014.   • Management Pack for Microsoft’s Systems Center Operations Manager (SCOM) — Integrates the key SQL Server monitor and alert performance metrics from SQL Diagnostic Manager into Microsoft’s Systems Center console.
  • AlwaysOn availability group monitoring — Helps users manage the topology of AlwaysOn availability groups in SQL Server 2012. SQL Diagnostic Manager will monitor server performance and send alerts to ensure a given SQL Server runs on the designated node in the event of failover to a secondary server.
  • Auditing configuration changes in the change log — Now DBA’s can audit configuration changes made in SQL Diagnostic Manager. The changes will display in the change log as an event, allowing DBAs to track user activity and create an audit trail report if needed.
  • Support for SQL Server 2014 — SQL Diagnostic Manager has been tested to work with pre-release copies of SQL Server 2014.
  • Manageability and scalability enhancements — Improved monitoring, alerting and reporting of blocking sessions with real-time and historical views as well as the ability to conduct bulk diagnostic tests to multiple servers.

Monitoring SQL Server Virtual Environments — Complete insight into the performance of virtualized SQL Server databases. View performance metrics and alerts for VMs and related ESX hosts including CPU, memory, disk usage, network throughput and more.

Tempdb Monitoring — Quickly identify and resolve tempdb-related performance issues with tempdb monitoring and diagnostic views, displaying information such as allocation page contention, snapshot isolation version store growth, and session-based consumption of space in tempdb.

Mobile Monitoring — Access SQL Diagnostic Manager from anywhere via a smart-phone (iPhone, Android, and Blackberry) or tablet. View real-time and historical SQL Server performance data, view or kill sessions, start/stop jobs, and run queries to resolve or diagnose issues remotely.

Alerting & Diagnostics Enhancements

Server Activity Timeline — Visualize server performance events as a timeline calendar instead of a list of events. Color-coded events simplify differentiation and a sliding scale provides the ability to zoom in to a specific timeframe. This reports simultaneous events in an easy to read format for quicker trend analysis and remediation.

Enhanced Performance Baselines — View server baseline performance and compare a server’s baseline values over time ranges as well as across different servers. Generate reports that show the baseline in the given performance metric’s graph or chart, allowing for better capacity planning for new servers.

Per-Database and Per-Disk Alerts — Gain per-database or per-disk alerts on OS Disk Full, OS Database Full, and OS Log Full shown for specific sizes in GBs or MBs as well as a percentage of the total database size.
Enterprise Management Enhancements

Redesigned SQL Server Dashboard — Dramatically expands display of performance data and simplifies troubleshooting. Eight key areas — Overview, Session, Queries, Wait Stats, Disk Counters, Databases, Services, Logs — are displayed with color-coding of red and yellow, indicating the areas triggering alerts to specific thresholds, to guide user action.

Customizable Server Dashboard — Users can customize Server Dashboards to see the performance information most relevant to their environment. Dashboards can be saved as templates, viewed in a gallery, and shared across servers or among console users.
