Data Architecture for Applications with ER/Studio 19.2

Data is the bedrock of the information technology (IT) organization and the lifeblood of the business. Every year we amass more of it and the regulations and risks around it grow. The goals of data governance and data management grow more important. Our data architecture team has worked hard to design and document static data assets (that is, databases) against standardized information models using logical data models. However, IT staff dealt separately with data in transit and data in use.

The issue here is that one often serializes data in transit or data in use, by employing hierarchical structures such as JavaScript object notation (JSON). Denormalization is common. These structures differ from the relational, normalized structures employed in databases.

ER/Studio now employs unique and novel techniques to bring together these worlds with support for hierarchical models such as JSON, MongoDB, and Google BigQuery. This allows architects to document and design hierarchical models within the same framework as databases.

Watch this video to discover what is new in ER/Studio 19.2. The new features include improved support for MongoDB, new platform support for JSON instance files, additional support for hierarchical models (for MongoDB and JSON), new data catalog, optimized Oracle repository performance, and better Collibra integration.
