Premier Lease and Loan Services (PLLS) Division of Great
American Insurance Group headquartered in Cincinnati,
Ohio, purchased Idera’s SQL compliance manager
application for assistance with multiple annual audits,
including both internal and external Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
audits and internal general IT control audits.
For PLLS Database Administrator Heather Haake, demanding audit schedules are facts of life. “In the insurance business auditing is happening all the time. Her small team of three database administrators have to make a lot of manual modifications and were not satisfied with existing methods for tracking production modification requests,” said Haake. “A large portion of our time was consumed with manually trying to catch changes.”

Haake installed Idera’s SQL compliance manager for Microsoft SQL Server on five servers and 32 databases. Immediately, Heather was able to put in place a three-step audit process for product data modifications that delivered customized reporting for both internal and external audits. “Our old solution required daily administration that was very time-consuming,” said Haake, “Idera’s SQL compliance manager, however, was simple. It’s easily customizable, so you can set your environment just the way you want, and then we don’t worry about it, we know that we will be alerted when necessary.”
With SQL compliance manager Haake’s team tracks everything required for production modification requests, audits, and other key database changes. More importantly, it enables the DBA team to self-audit. “SQL compliance manager allows us to pinpoint areas get a better understanding about how we’re spending our time and pinpoint areas that need improvement. By automating the processes, we’re can saving quite a lot of time per month,” Haake said.
“With SQL compliance manager, we have automated production data modifications and have been able to reduce programming and administration time. For the first time, our production modifications and auditing process were completed in less than one day, ” Haake said.
