Idera SharePoint enterprise manager offers many powerful capabilities that require the delegation of features to be carefully upgraded and planned. Idera understands that the upgrade process from version to version should be as transparent as possible, and we work relentless to achieve our goals. Specifically to this release, when upgrading Idera SharePoint security manager to Idera SharePoint enterprise manager, we have opted to create a new repository and chosen to leave the delegation transfer process manual. This decision comes as a result to how features inside SharePoint security manager have been combined into single features within SharePoint enterprise manager , In the best efforts to avoid taking features away or giving too much access to current Idera SharePoint security manager users. Here is how the upgrade process will work:
- Install SharePoint enterprise manager on the same environment parallel with the SharePoint security manager installation.
- With the exclusion of feature delegation, all prior configurations with regards to Active Directory specifications and Site Definition specifications will be taken into consideration.
- Use the parallel running SharePoint security manager feature delegations as a reference to manually enter the feature delegations for the SharePoint enterprise manager. A summary of feature differences is outlined below:
- SharePoint enterprise manager’s Account Security Analyzer feature combined the features of the Account Site Security Analyzer and the Account List & Item Security Analyzer.
- SharePoint enterprise manager’s Security Audit Reports feature combined the features of the Site Security Audit and the List & Item Security Audit features
- Once the feature delegation has been completed; the SharePoint security manager application is no longer needed and can be uninstalled.
