Backup Performance and Options
High Performance CDP Backup:
Shrink your backup windows. The first time your data protection policy runs, it will perform an initial replica of your data. After the initial replica, R1Soft CDP stores block level deltas, leading to shorter backup windows and reduced disk I/O compared to traditional file based full and incremental backups.
Portable Storage Backups: With CDP Portable Disk Safe® technology, your backups go wherever you need them to. Move your Disk Safe to a new location, open it with another CDP installation or even copy it to a USB drive.
Multi-Point Replication: Use multi-point replication to efficiently make multiple backup replicas of your servers. Both on-site and off-site or redundant on-site copies of your recovery points are possible.
MS Volume Shadow Copy: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) is used to produce a point-in-time snapshot of disk volumes, delivering protection for locked and open files.
Powerful file excludes: Browse your file system and select any combination of files and folders to be excluded from your data protection policy. Add advanced rule exclude rules using patterns to exclude only certain file types.
Innovative Web interface: In addition to policy management and reporting, you can browse, download, and restore files from your recovery points using an Explorer-style interface. You can also see the detailed progress of replication and restore jobs as they run.
Industrial Strength Storage: Archive up to 64TB of recovery points per disk. On-disk journaling passes the ACID test and recovers automatically from crashes and product failure.
Data Retention Policy: Define a replication goal (for example, every 15 minutes) and how many recovery points you will retain. Old recovery points are automatically merged and and their storage is recycled.
Enterprise Management Features
Recovery Point Archiving: Corporate and regulatory requirements often require the archiving of data at certain intervals (for example, monthly or annually). Define an archiving policy for your recovery points to ensure your retention requirements are supported.
MySQL backups: Backup your MySQL databases. MySQL Snapshots are performed by integration between the CDP Windows Agent and MS Volume Shadow Copy service.
Microsoft Hyper-V: Install CDP Advanced Edition onto your Windows 2008 or Windows 2008 R2 Server hosting your Hyper-V guests. One install provides backups for all of your guest virtual machines.
MS SQL Server backups: Backup your MS SQL Server 2005 and MS SQL Server 2008 databases. Utilizes MS Volume Shadow Copy service and is suitable for disaster recovery of an entire SQL Server.
Microsoft Exchange Server: Backup your MS Exchange Server 2007 and MS Exchange Server 2010 data stores. Utilizes MS Volume Shadow Copy and is suitable for disaster recovery of an entire Exchange Server.

MySQL Requirements (requirements for protecting MySQL databases)
Operating Systems
Storage Engines
- MyISAM
- InnoDB / Innobase
- Memory (schema only)
- Archive
- CSV
- Blackhole (schema only)
Objects Protected and Restored
- Databases
- Tables
- Indexes
- Constraints
- Triggers
- Events
- Views
- Stored Procedures
MySQL Versions
Any MySQL release version 5.X or newer including both MySQL Community and Enterprise releases.
File Systems
In order for R1Soft CDP to protect your MySQL database it should be located on one of the following supported file systems.
Note: All of a databases tables and associated InnoDB log files should be located on the same file system for proper snapshot and synchronization. Locating InnoDB data and log files on separate file systems or devices is not currently supported by R1Soft CDP.
- Windows: NTFS
- Linux: Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, ReiserFS 3
Bare-Metal Restore (BMR)
Bare-Metal Restore is a high-performance alternative to file-by-file restore. By bypassing the file system and streaming blocks directly to disk, restores of large file systems can be performed significantly faster.
Efficient Backup Storage
Virtual Full Backups mean unique disk blocks are stored only one time in your backup storage, even across thousands of recovery points. Keep more recovery points longer and save space over your existing full or incremental backups.
Disk Safe Encryption
AES-256 Disk Safe Encryption can be enabled at time of creation of Disk Safes for your backup data. This aids in the protection of data stored in the CDP Server, and in protection of the data over the network.
