Selecting and Protecting the Right SharePoint Backup Targets
SharePoint is a complex platform with many moving parts and dependencies, and most administrators know that they need some form of backup protection to safeguard their environments. When it comes to actually protecting a SharePoint environment, though, what should an administrator focus on? What's important? In this webcast, we'll take a look at SharePoint disaster recovery with an eye towards identifying farm protection targets. We'll examine all of the common (and many of the not-so-common) elements that need to be protected by a backup strategy, discuss why those elements may or may not be important for any given environment, and talk about tools and technologies that are available for protection. We'll also cover some special circumstances and watch-outs that may help or hinder efforts to protect targets that are selected within a farm. By the end this webcast, viewers will be able to prioritize backup targets in their SharePoint environments and select appropriate strategies for protection.

Understanding and managing SharePoint security
As so many of us know all too well, today’s SharePoint environments empower users to communicate and share information on a level not seen in the past. With that level of empowerment; there’s also been a dramatic increase in the need to protect more sensitive information, manage storage, keep a rounded and purposeful taxonomy, and just “know” what’s happening in the SharePoint realm. In order to grab hold of this understanding, you’ve first got to grab hold on an in-depth understanding of the underlying SharePoint security. This includes investigating and understanding ALL levels in which access and actions can take place inside your environment. We’ll cover these aspects and more. From that level of understanding, we can then apply some simple management concepts that will better your environment and keep you on track for future growth.

Secrets of SharePoint: Don’t Blame it on SharePoint!

Microsoft SharePoint can be compared to a gigantic toolbox with its drawers filled with a collection of useful and powerful tools. As SharePoint’s global adoption rate continues to increase, many are finding new and innovative ways to utilize this powerful platform. Despite these efforts, there are core concepts and configuration pillars that must be followed to ensure SharePoint’s success within an organization. Sometimes these drawers are not “unlocked,” in the proper order and its tools are being misused leading to SharePoint’s site proliferation, governance model, support processes, and customizations being rushed into place.

In this live webcast, Errin O'Connor will provide proven and time tested methodologies that have been implemented at some of the largest organization’s in the U.S. to ensure SharePoint’s “drawers” are unlocked in the correct manner and its overwhelming functionally is being utilized properly. SharePoint itself should not be blamed when these issues arise when, in fact, the methodologies that were utilized in its deployment were not properly defined and executed.
